When Birds ATTACK!

By Wireworkzzz
The Australian Magpie is usually very harmless and the sound of them all carolling from high up in the trees at daybreak is really beautiful.
But at nesting time every year, some, but not all magpies become very aggressive. They sit high up in the trees and then when they see you they swoop down, alway from behind. Sometimes they just swoop, but at other times they strike hard enough to draw blood. You don't hear them coming until the last minute when you hear the flutter of wings. You don't turn around as there have been several instances of people losing an eye.
Know one knows why this beautiful, very intelligent bird decides we are a threat when their nests are so very high up in the trees. We have "MagpieAlert.com.au" where people register attacks so others can avoid the areas if at all possible. Very handy if you're a photographer.

A wonderful shot! What is it about your area that everything is trying to kill you?

Go for a nice dip in the sea? Yeah, right.
A walk in the woods may suit if a magpie doesn't eat your eye.
Don't tread on any shiny twigs.
... and careful emptying the Vacuum Cleaner!
