When is a horse not a horse?

By Sue_R
Answer - When it's a hause Smile

Only, whatever this sign at Crummock Water may appear to show, hause and horse are not the same thing at all Smile

I had to look it up and discovered that, in Cumbria, hause means "stream at the pass". So now I know and so do you Smile

Happy Silly Sunday! Smile

Well, you learn something new every day!! Grin Did you actually get to see the hause then?! SmileSmile
Typing this, my spell check has highlighted the word and the only option it offers is 'house', shall have to teach it this new word...!! Wink
