When Rolls met Royce....

By AngelaSeager
This wall statue, in the beautiful Manchester Midland Hotel entrance foyer, was erected to commemorate the meeting that took place in the Hotel on 4 May 1904 between aristocrat Charles Stewart Rolls and working class engineer Frederick Henry Royce. They had lunch together in The Grill Room, looked at the car Royce had designed and Rolls-Royce Ltd was created.
