When The Sky Shut Down

By gpimages
So after a crazy high tide and strong winds on Saturday, the winds were still strong on Sunday so I thought the Stone Jetty may make a good composition for a similar 'crashing waves' shot.

Whilst the wind was super strong again the tide wasn't quite as high so the huge waves I was hoping for didn't materialise - not in this location anyway.

However the light change was incredible and this shot was just before a horizontal hailstone storm hit for a few minutes. That dark grey sky suddenly happened and dominated the scene for those few minutes. (Apart from the RAW conversion this is straight out of the camera).

I thought the shot might be a bit boring - one of those where you had to be there - but it was the sky that did it for me.

Thank you for taking the time to look.

Thank you too for your votes and comments for 'High Winds Meet High Tide'. Most appreciated as always. Thank you Ted, John (Jmag60), Mike (mike9005), Alan (springfieldphotography), Tony, Karen and Richard for your awards.

Karen - the next one's for you!

All very much appreciated. Thank you!.

Great aspect of the area is the changeability of the light! The contrast here works very well! Was that cloud full of snow hail or rain? you have to be out to catch it! Andy

A lovely seascape, Graham, nice light catching the waves - the shot really gives the impression of it being one of those days when the weather can change from one minute to the next 😃👍🏻

Great shot Graham. I love the stone jetty. Itís my favourite place to walk in Morecambe. The sky is amazing. I would have loved to see the hail though. 😉

The sky can do some amazing things.
