When the Sun Sets

By uggyy
One from behind the lighthouse on the walk to the Old Man Of Stoer.

Taken a bit before the sunset. Didnt have my grads with me this time, duh but took 7 shots and worked this in HDR.

Hope the results pleasing.

Sharon was trying not to freak as I stood a few feet off the edge of a rather interesting drop Smile

All the Best, Tommy

wouldn't have known this was HDR unless you told us - which is a sign of good work in my book.

Good natural result - skillful tone mapping indeed. I like the sky & the "metallic" tones of that & the sea.

Thanks Im happy you feel this way, I must admit most of my recent work is HDR from 7 exps but I try and make the HDR look natural rather than go OTT. SO its nice to know its got the desired effect Im looking for...

I think I can detect a little HDR-ness in some of the foreground rocks but this is a well processed image and does look very natural indeed. When standing near the edge of cliffs just remember that whereas a camera will bounce, the human body will not. It just sort of splats then lies still.

Brilliant image tommy. To say I was nervous when you were so close to the edge is a slight understatement lol....

Tommy goes in to superman mode sometimes when he sees a shot in a precarious position .

Dave, I love your comment !!

the sort of HDR that I want to do, where it doesn't look HDR, you know you've got it right in the tone mapping then... Cracking shot Tommy, love the calmness of the the photographer too "Sharon was trying not to freak as I stood a few feet off the edge of a rather interesting drop"

Thanks peeps, I knew there was a reason I kept thoose visists to the hamburger place, extra layers of body armor..... I think I would just bounce rather than spat.

Trying to get HDR looking natural isnt as easy it looks. To tempting to get carried away and end up with something that looks like the end of the world Smile

I can see that this is HDR Tommy (particularly the fg). However, It is a superb shot in many respects, particularly the depth, and 3D qualities. Pleased to be number 30.
