"AN ENGLISHMANS HOME IS HIS CASTLE"
ok, i dont actually live in either the castle or the allotment. i have however lived all my life in Bolsover.
A strange place of contrasts, a historic market town with a rather nice market centre surrounded by magnesium limestone buildings . To the east side Bolsover faces the edge of the farming green belt and there are fields as far as you can see. It is on this fringe where i actually live. To the west it extends onto a limestone escarpment overlooking the Hockley valley with views across to the Peak district.
The castle stands on the west escarpment and like any other forming mining town there are allotments and pigeon cotes. They are out of the tourist views but they are there if you know where.
I kind of liked the tiers of society that these represent. one looking down on the other, both fiercely proud of their heritage.
Anyway its my home town and i love the place. it has its moments but so does everywhere else.
I was struggling for inspiration on this so after Ades kick up the rear yesterday i left work early to take this, so i look forward to and await your valued critiques.
thanks for looking
