Whitby Fisher Wife

By woolybill1
Looking out over the harbour with her back to the 199 steps. A recent modern artwork.

All this week's offerings were converted to black and white using the Pinhole preset in SilverEfex Pro 2.

Thanks to everyone who supported my series In the Salient last week.

I take my hat off to the people who make these sort of things.

I would love to go and see the fairies at Trentham

ďAs a local lass myself, itís impossible not to be fascinated by the fisher lasses - and overawed by the back-breaking work they did alongside the men to support local industry,Ē said Emma Stothard, renowned Yorkshire sculptor

When I see the words 'modern artwork' I usually think 'Oh no!' but in this case the artwork and the location seem to be in harmony. I particularly like the image with the abbey in the background.

I prefer V1 as it shows more of what is going on and including the famous Whitby ruin gives it a location as well.

Not seen her before, but I was last in Whitby in 2016. I'm guessing she's on Tate Hill Pier. Two fine viewpoints and captures, Bill 👍

These are so much better than much of the "art" that we see so often. The texture of the technique gives them life, and they do catch the essence of the sea life.

Superb work, both the versions are good...

Impressive.
( Reminds me very much of the astonishing sculptures of Sally Matthews, though she sculpts animals rather than people.)

She'll make a fine catch for someone, Bill.
