Why Bother?

By Melanie_M
Seeing a couple of shots on this theme, this is one of my own.
Had not meant to stop as we were on the way to Ardnamurchan from Edinburgh and I really had wanted to get across on the Corran Ferry before dark. Just a glimse of still water in Lochan na Stainge and developing colour in the sky was enough to tempt me Wink

Yeah, another boring sunset. Nothing to see here. Move along please!

Some good cloud control going on here with the little blobby clouds nicely echoing the rocks. Not a bad effort... Wink

So this is the reason that I was listening to my own breathing up a dark country lane. Well worth the discomfort to see this image from the Moor.
Great colour and a fine composition Mel, nicely done and quite a fresh take on this Lochan.

Looks like this was an ovewhelming response as to why you should visit this area. Many thanks to all who have commented and voted.
Rannoch Moor has only once in the past 5 years been my destination, it is usually a stop on the way to somewhere else. It makes for a focus on the drive north and is an encouragement to leave home early and avoid the traffic.
I reckon in all the trips I've made I've stopped here and photographed 50% of the time and images worth showing 25% of the time. There are many more here who will get an image here each time they visit and that is a testament to their artistic eye and dedication.
I'm one of those who loves to see the way the light falls on the land, so to point the lens to the setting sun is alien to me and I find challenging. Here I had to stack grads to keep detail in the sky and in the FG rocks, as a consequence there are elements in the sky that are too dark and the reflection in the water is not as dark as the eye may have seen it.
Long may this spot hold it's charm, and I would hope that those who want to visit find something here that they leave wanting to return to.
