Anemones are herbaceous perennials with fibrous, rhizomatous or tuberous rootstocks, palmately lobed leaves and saucer-shaped, usually 5 petalled flowers.
Anemone blanda (V.3) is a compact rhizomatous perennial growing to 15cm, with dark green leaves composed of three lobed and toothed segments. Flowers are 3-4cm in width, violet blue, pink or white, and opening in spring. Ingestion of the flowers, leaves or roots may cause mild stomach upset, contact with the skin can cause irritation.
