Willow Tit

By fcast
Taken early in the year in the shrubs surrounding Far Pastures pond near Thornley woods,
shame it's ringed but loads of birds in the area are so i guess its well looked after by the local Nature Wardens

A super capture but alas it's a marsh Tit.
Extremely difficult to ID but the clue is on the beak.

Thanks for putting me right Colin, I'm not the best in the world at bird ID Sad
Saying that here is an extract from the RSPB web site on the subject concerning the Marsh Tit
" In the UK its identification is made tricky by the very similar appearance of our race of willow tit. They're so hard to identify that ornithologists didn't realise there were two species until 1897!"
