Well observed image, Rod. Super sky and the dark hill to the right in thr FG makes the composition for me.

Works well in mono.

Good shot Rod. crop the sky down 'till black cloud equals weight of black hill in RH corner and see if you think the image gains more power. The sky/clouds above are lovely but maybe distract from the main subject. Si.

PS; I know it can be a bit windy up your way, but do you really need 1/1600th to stop a windmill? Just for me, cold you nip back and do it at 1/10th, love to see a bit of blur.

A turbulent sky, climactic stuff, Rod.

I see what Si means, and I agree about the shutter speed, but for me the sky is the main subject. And like Nigel I think the dark FG hill is important. I find those matchsticks the least interesting part.

Some cloud formation!! Nice Image!! I like it a lot!!
Lovely clouds ( you know I like a nice cloud) but the composition is great. In my opinion Si's comment is both right and wrong. it is just a different picture, this one works dead on for me.

The mills were static anyway. It was more to do with stopping camera shake , first time out wi the new (2nd hand) lens and i was concious about the inverse rule Grin Pretty pleased wi the lens after a few shots Smile

I don't mind them at all Rod and have on a few occasions shot them I do however object to the fact that in the main they are a financial failure due to the 344 in my area only at best producing 10% of what they are capable of grump over ...great drama again in the sky it all adds so the starkness of the turbines

A very well observed, composed and exposed image with a wonderfully calming yet breezy feel to it Rod. The choice of processing adding to that feeling quite superbly. However I on the other hand contrary to what Moira says, I think that the mound to the right of the images somewhat distracts me from admiring the remainder of the seen.

Stark, Cold and atmospheric Rod, I love the wind turbines to me they make this image silhouetted against the sky - It wouldn't do if we all liked the same - after all art is very personal - This is my kind of art!

This is a picture of the sky. There are 4 strips of clouds, all in different tones and shapes.
They have movement, texture and definition, in a monochrome, which is even better!

Excelente, me gusta los diferebtes tonos de grises que hay en el cuadro.

Powerful shot Rod. well doneGrinGrin
perfect mono................I hate you. This is crying out for a darker gradient filter from the top and a sort of letterbox crop to draw the eye to the horizon......this is really good, Rod, but there is more to be had..........trust me, I am sure it will work. I still hate you.

This is fabulous Rod, powerful and moody. I love the composition and the dark sky balances out the foreground! Terrrrrific.
