Windmill in White

By conrad
I found this wonderful windmill just after a snowstorm, yesterday (in Geffen, the Netherlands). Its name is "Zeldenrust", which means "Seldom Rest". It was resting when I was there, though...

It was a pleasant surprise that when I got out of the car, the sun broke through the clouds. I put the polariser on my lens to get as much definition as possible in the sky, and got on with it. Hope you like it!

Comments and mods welcome, as always.

Thanks for looking,

A very pleasing shot. I like the lead into it. The colours are great.

Wonderfully clear, crisp and detailed image, Conrad. And superbly composed as well - I love the way the eye is led down the line of trees to the windmill beyond. There's something about that copper-coloured beech hedge I find really appealing!

Nicely exposed to keep the detail in the snow and well framed, the trees make a good lead in, but I do wish they wouldn't butcher them like that.

Thanks, everyone!

Sean, I know exactly what you mean about butchering those willow trees. I've also always thought they look sad after having been pruned. But I'm afraid that's what people do. Oh well... at least they provided a nice lead-in.
