Winter garden

By oldgreyheron
Sandra and I went out for the day today. It was cold and misty, but we paid our first visit of the year to Helmsley Walled Garden. The staff were busy but we were the only garden visitors. This is the main axial herbaceous border which later in the year will be a riot of colour. I do like the hues of last year's dead foliage left on the plants for architectural impact and weather protection.

Well spotted and the various clumps of colour and with varied heights do look like a winter garden.
No excuse for not taking images even in the bleakest months.

It eill be a sea of colour throughout the summer, Mike, and interesting to see it as it is now, well captured. Carol
