Winter Macros

By Glostopcat
A set of images all taken yesterday morning in the Forest of Dean on a visit there with fellow epzer gary_d. Most of these were taken around Cannop and in some of the Forestry Commission plantations near Nagshead. The weather forecast was for sunny intervals, but we saw precious little of the sun on the day and the light was poor throughout which made photographing birds difficult. From the day only one image of a **** chaffinch was worth keeping and I must have binned well over a hundred shots! I was determined to come away with something so decided to focus on some of the smaller things around me which I tend to often overlook or don't even notice. Here is a collection of some of the many lichens, few remaining fungi and decaying vegetation that I saw, the first is of some lichen that i spotted at Cannop Ponds

So that's where you disappeared to while I was trying to get shots of the birds, a great set and I particularly like V1. - gary

I didn't have any chance with the birds, they were all attracted to you because of all that Lynx Africa you'd sprayed on in the morning before you set off from home!Wink

V1 and V9 are particularly good. That's a nitrogen-sensitive lichen, so an indicator of good air quality. V11 has got me stumped though, don't know it at all.

Nice collection of images.
Its always the tiny things which people overlook and usually trample without realising they've done so.
Alot of this small stuff can be of more interest than the larger items around, especially the intricate detail they can hold. Good work.
