Winter Sun

By millymcb
Little Miss is just desperate to jump in the enormous puddle behind her. I love her expression. The perfect combination of cute and cheeky.

I wanted to catch her expression but also the winter sun coming through the trees. I would be interested to hear your thoughts. Particularly on the composition. I played with a few crops before this.

Thanks

I don't particularly have a problem with the crop, the little girl is well placed on the LHS third but...the RHS of the image looks a little odd, very blurred with a strange patch of yellow, which I find detracts from the main subject.
As the puddle is behind her ( I think I can just see it) maybe a portrait crop would be in order as the RHS is not adding anything to the image.
The strong sunlight has caused a touch of over exposure on the ground, maybe this could be remedied in your editing program by slightly adjusting the highlight levels. The other option of course would be to set a faster shutter speed, taking care not to under expose the child.
A difficult light condition which,to be honest I would have avoided & taken the image in light a little less harsh.
A good moment captured though & I like her expression.

Nice image. very cute. The Sun is low, and a little harsh, so perhaps a little less sharpening, or less contrast. You can only really deal with the harshness in post processing. I would crop the right, and end up with a 10 X 8 aspect ratio.

So the mod is cropped, slightly softer, with a touch less saturation.

Nice shot,

regards
