Wise Men Say....

By WhiteRose1
.........it looks like rain today"
It crackled on the speakers
And trickled down the sleepy subway trains..... Elton John

If you look closely you CAN see a bridge in the background - Chelsea Bridge in a downpour whilst we sheltered under Albert Bridge
and watched several runners/joggers enjoying the refreshing rain!! TongueGrin

Taken 3 weeks ago on my old Panasonic TZ7, Iso 200, 1/100sec, f4.9 - not that I had anything to do with these settings.

I love the composition here, and the toning. In fact I think it's a superb image all round....the colour popping?....hmmmm, not sure.. maybe.
As for whether you make the settings or the camera does is neither here nor there, Dave, it seems to me. What's important is the fact that you chose to make that particular image. The camera didn't. Does a painter need to make his own pigments, his own brushes?

No colour popping... it was natural murk caused by the rain, although I did desaturate the blues slightly to make that metal box/cabinet less intrusive.

Excellent composition and I have that Panasonic camera too - I found it difficult to change the settings with the joystick but left to it's own devices, I took a lot of decent images (my first 20 points and a 19 at camera club one taken after the other in snow) I love that lamppost line up and the misty rain.

A very well composed image with great depth, and timed well to place the jogger at an ideal position within the frame.
Selective colour retention either works or doesn't but for me it world very nicely here, Dave.

Very nice, dull, aspheric i would lose the person in background Smile Its not that it dostn`t work---and it gives scale,i just feel that I`m dragged along the embankment until you get to your runner without it.
With the person in the shot ,i`m held in frame.

Thanks for your comment Dave and i too, have two Panasonic compacts (LX3 and an LX7) used regularlly when i dont want to look too obvious or lug about a hefty Nikon and lenses and i feel the image quality i9n the fixed Leica lenses produces superb images, however... to return the favour i have found this one in your PF which shows nice perspective and the atmophere is captured very well.

Some comentators are not sure about the colour popping?...i feel that it actualy enhances the shot by placing a little colour in what is already a great mono tone image...excellent.
