With and Without

By ChiliMan
Loved reading the comments in my Silly Sunday upload and thanks for all the votes too, people Smile

Now then…of the skies I’ve taken over the past week, these 3 aren’t amongst the best shots…but I was telling FeFe about them yesterday and said I’d put them up to show (a) the difference between with and without the polarising filter, and (b) how the cloudscape can change in the space of a minute or two.

Ok…so V1 is without the filter on…and taken at 10,04am yesterday.

V2 is with the filter on and at full twiddle (i.e., with the filter ring rotated till you get maximum effect)…and taken at 10.06am.

V3 is the same as V2 but taken at 10.07am and with the sun peeking out a bit more.

Polarising effect aside, if you mouse over from Vs 1-3, you can see how the cloud formation changes over those 3 minutes.

More skies to come but I’ll intersperse them with other stuff so I don’t bore the pants off you Grin

I think V.2 is the winner here for me, Andrew, wonderful cloud formations, and that polarizing filter works so well. Carol

I like the brightness of v1. The others don't appear natural to me, although the clouds are beautiful.

Oh Andrew, all this techy polariser stuff is too much for me.
If you waited on the street lamps to come on would that not help !!

Tricky one. I would go for V1 for the blues, V2 for the clouds...

An interesting exercise, Andrew. This speed of change is what the long exposure proponents are after.

Sorry Andrew, I know that this is your favourite toy, but I prefer the shot without the polariser.

It amazes me the difference the filter makes but I still like the first two for different reasons. Cathy

Most interesting excercise, Andrew.
Amazing how fast clouds change.
I like to see if I can see shapes in them.
It works better if I have a glass in my hand...!!

All of these work well, the clouds are more defined with the polariser
