Your absolutely right in the last four words regarding DOF. But there again it depends how shallow you go !
However, I wasn't trying to create a shallow depth of field, moreover just to put the focus on the bride and what she is doing, by simply applying a gaussian blur to a secondary layer and then masking the bride (pardon the expression). I have another version where only her face and veil is sharp and the rest of the picture blurred, but not as much.
I just try to apply different approaches to different pictures all the time. Obviously some people will like them, others won't, its just a matter of taste and I appreciate your comments.
