wood pigeon

These creatures always look a bit weird and slightly stupid. I think it's that eye; it looks like one of those old-fashioned Liquorice Allsorts.

The Wood Pigeon's scientific name is Columba palumbus - and that chucks another graphic into my head that seems to fit - the lumbering Columbo, the dozy detective that Peter Falk made famous.
