Workstation - St Germain des prés

By mrswoolybill
It’s happening everywhere. People take their work around with them now. The Parisian café used to be such a sociable, relaxing experience.
I think we’ll have b&w here...
Thanks for looking,
Moira

He looks so isolated from the rest of the world, listening to the music and deeply concentrated on whatever he is doing.
paraphrasing the sentence in the BG, every picture is a story.

V1 wonderful, Moira - and quite right to make it mono. When I saw thew thumbnail, I thought he had a fag in his mouth, which would have made it really French.

Youngsters have to carry so much around these days. Something to plug in your ear, computer, no doubt a mobile etc. Apart from the equipment, this lad could easily be from the 60s or 70s. Lovely clear shots.

I like it! Although, for true authenticity, he should be smoking a Gauloise and have a glass of pastis in front of him. Wink

lovely candid shots, especially with all the elements in the background. It's funny how mono changed the way I feel about photographs where there are loads of technical stuff like the netbook, headphones, etc... Before seeing this, I really hated the immersion of electronics in photos which were meant to create a mood / atmosphere which was not commercial.

So it's not just on British trains that people using computers think they are entitled to take up the whole of a table meant for four people, and he doesn't seem to have a drink from the café either; I bet he's popular. Every picture has a story. I like the mono treatment; and I prefer the pensive mood of version 1.

Thankfully Moira, this electronic, computerised age has not reached the Leith Dockers Social club yet.One can still participate ia a lively debate about whose turn it is to get the drinks in,or what on earth possesed Big Aggie to wear that God awful green dress with the pink flowers on it,without any distractions of any electronic gadgetery !!
For once I reckon mono is a must here.
And for Big Aggie's dress, mono would be a must too !!

V1 shows the intensity of it. I was at the local bookstore yesterday, and it has the same clientele making use of the free wi-fi. Probably preferable to studying at home in many cases.

"The only thing, 'that spoils the images,' Moira,...is that 'He is using a Mac." I am a 'Bill Gates $MS person.' LOL GrinWink...Two excellent candid shots rendered beautifully in monochrome, B&W. I favor the v1 version, today. Have a great Day!

Totally in a world of his own. Wonder how many coffee shops there are around the world all full of people studying and working? Superb candids Moira. Why does that panini sound so much nicer in French?!

It certainly is a sign of the times, Moira, but it looks like a better place to work than Costa on the M5!

I'm surprised. Paris. The centre of all sorts of culture & art, & they have a tacky, pulp-fiction, whodunnit on the shelf.
(I'm also quite surprised no-one beat me to the observation).

An excellent street shot Moira.

I'd just like to see V1 straightened, as the slightly leaning door frame detracts a little from an otherwise superb image.

Yes I should have skewed V1 a bit - I didn't want to rotate as that would cut off the top of the lettering top left.

Yep I'm a card carrying Costa coffee addict, must spend 1 1/2 hours per day in them working away between appointments, a great capture. The candid street life is IMHO what you do best.

Ah, Moira, this is my type of image!!!! Wonderful composition, great tones......an excellent conversion! When I saw this in the recent comments page, I instantly wanted to give this one a GE award, however, I only have the power to award images between the 6th and 13th of June. Sad

This is top-notch!

Cheers
