World Pinhole Day

By max_e
Today is World Pinhole Day.
This is my image of Lambley Viaduct in Northumberland taken this morning. I used my dad's camera as it is full frame and gives a wider view with the pinhole. The pin hole is laser cut in metal and taped to a body cap which acts as the lens. I exposed and composed by trial and error as the image is too dark to see through the viewfinder and very dim on live view. I had to build a small platform into the river with stones to get the angle that I wanted.
It can be seen at http://www.pinholeday.org/gallery/2016/?id=128 on the world pinhole site.

I am so glad you wrote a description - considering how 'basic' the lens, it's quite an interesting image! Very well taken.

Just a thought or two, Max. I've tried a pinhole (mine is aluminium foil stuck to a body cap with a hole in it) and I use it on Sony bodies with electronic viewfinders. With the ISO would well up, there's a real image in the viewfinder, and you can even shoot handheld in good light... Although the ergonomics of a conventional viewfinder appeal to me, Sony's alternative is appealing in several ways.

The noise matters far less when there's plenty of blur from the 'lens'!

Fascinating to read your description of how this was taken. Great viewpoint. This is one of the best images on the pinholeday website.
