Incredible bird... well captured
- John (Gio)
What a Stunning image, fantastic detail and lovely and sharp.
A great image taken very well..
Nice to see the thorns in the tre so you know it was taken in the wild..
Nice picture of this local bird (For us in South Africa) with interesting breeding habits - The female seals herself and the eggs inside a hollow in a tree with mud and saliva. The male takes total responsibility for feeding female and chicks during the breeding period. About 20 days after the first egg hatches, the female breaks out of the nest and the entrance is partly sealed again – a small hole is left open through which the young are fed – after a further 22 to 27 days the young birds break out of the nest. As a result these birds achieves a far greater fledging success than other hole-nesting birds that don’t seal the nest.
Very good shot, Phil.
