    Poppy field

A good poppy field for those near the A57 (M1 to Worksop stretch) It's just before the small villages of North and South Anston when heading from the M1 to Worskop/A1. Park in the village and walk back on the road. There's a cut in on the left...

    Photo 365 - Number 173 - Poppy Puppy

Back up to date again - Sunday in the garden and Poppy Puppy is one of those dogs that will play forever if you've the stamina. It's much easier when she wants to play with her squeaky ball - it's far less effort to keep kicking it up the garden tha...

    Photo365 - 259 - it's raining

I'm still making the most of the poppies that grew in my garden and I decided to try out my new hose pipe (bought for 4 from Tesco yesterday). I took the Elincrom D-Lite flash outdoors and positioned it to the right and behind the poppy heads. I th...

    Photo365 - 217 - poppy heads

I have a feeling this will be the second to last shot from my poppy series. This is of ageing poppy heads shot from a low angle using the hipstamtic iphone app.

    Photo365 - 209 - reading the poppy seeds

A bearded bloke is going to cross my path... I started taking photos with the poppy head attached to the stalk with the sky behind...using flash and underexposing the cloudy sky, then I moved over to the glass patio table. The bare shots look pret...

    Photo365 - 187 - natural filter

On what will probably be my next to last poppy shot I decided to position the camera so that a poppy head was filtered by a foreground poppy petal. The long lens (500mm Tamron) has thrown the front petal totally out of focus resulting in a colour cas...

    Photo365 - 178 - Fields of red

I had a couple of red poppies appear in the garden today, and later in the day noticed Josh (ePHOTozine's technical editor) had uploaded a camera review with pictures taken in a poppy field. I hadn't realised we had any in the vicinity but this one ...

    Photo365 - 174 - raindrops

Raindrops on the poppy petals today. I'll soon have exhausted the poppy patch by which time the petals will have all fallen off. Next I'm looking forward to a shot of the skeleton poppy head. That's a few weeks away.

    Photo365 - 173 - poppy bulb

Continuing my theme of poppy photos while I have them in the garden, this is of the bulb before it explodes into a large and colourful poppy. I included the other stalks in to balance the right side. It's taken using the Pentax K5 (just updated to V1...

    Photo365 - 168 - poppy drops

I'm making the most of the poppy explosion in the garden, and the rain with this shot. A poppy petal fell off, so I placed it on the garden table and framed up tightly using the 100mm macro on a Pentax K5.

    Photo365 - 167 - Delicate

A close up abstract of a poppy petal...such large and delicate things - they don't stand a chance in the wind and rain.

    Photo365 - 163 - The First Poppy

We had a pond. At one end was a water feature on an incline with a few pond type flowers around the cascade and a stray poppy. The filter pump went so we decided to fill it in. Bricks from the incline wall were used to fill the main part of the pond ...

And now the Torch and Poppy Red, We wear in honor of our dead

Mornings have that extra chill that catches your breath as you step outside. The dew that bit heavier as it lingers in the half light. The trees disrobe of their tapestry of colour, falling gently to the floor like a robe to reveal their stark splend...

    They've Mowed The Verges!

I've had a busy month so far, but that doesn't mean that I haven't been thinking about photography. And I did even take some shots in a few stolen moments. Managed to get some entries in for the Tetley Tea competition at the very last moment, but it ...
