It's Snowing!

conradNormally I'd grab my camera and rush to the nearest picturesque spot. 'Normally'? <Sigh.> Yes. Not this time? Nope. I have to wait for the plumbers to finish. And by the looks of things they're not going to be finished for hours. And the predicted afternoon temperature is 3 degrees... ...

Hazelmouse Kita(12 weeks) & Becket (nearly 8) in the garden enjoying the novelty of the snow. They are both Italian Spinone and bred for work as gundogs in the hills of northern Italy so cold is not a problem -except for me standing freezing to death.

PeteNo golf being played today. The flag was catching that cold wind. Taken on a walk around the outskirts of Worksop into Sherwood Forest. I had thermals, extra fleece layers, hat, scarf gloves, and wellies. Super protected, but like a sauna by the time I'd been out walking for half an hour. It's ...

Hazelmouse View of our garden at 11.30 am. Feeding birds like mad though it has stopped snowing for now. The 2 trees are silver birches and the garden is an interesting shape - a triangle - so the distant point is the end of the garden. LHS is a field RHS is bordered by a very quiet lane. The main road...

Focus on a Footstep

conradI'm much too busy with work today to take the camera out and enjoy the snow... :-( But of course I just had to do something with it anyway. And I came up with the idea of a quick footstep just outside the patio door, and this treatment. Nothing spectacular, but at least I did something with the w...

Winter , snow and frost

MamaballoonThe light over the last few days has been amazing. I have been stalking swans on the river and marvelling at the reflections on the water. As much as I dread winter I love the light at this time of year. I hope all you photographers out there are having some fun ties with the frost and snow in the U...

Merry Christmas!

conradThis is just to wish you all a very Merry Christmas! Since we're not having a white Christmas this time, here's what it looked like last year:

Day 106:First snow

discreetphoton First snow Itís not much snow, but it counts. This was caught on my way up to Edinburgh, just above the Border viewpoint on the A1. I use a mitten to dodge the sensor, as the contrast difference was to strong to consider filtering, even if there had been a straight edge to the horizon. ...

Phone Find

conradSo, as I said before, I've finally transferred images from my phone to my pc and had a look if there was anything usable among them. Well, not much, the quality is generally very low. Lots of noise, only reasonably sharp when the light is good, and lacking in detail when looking in the distance. ...

11th February

colmarHi I looked out the door numerous times last night and snow and lots of it... Mari up at 3 am for work and she braved the conditions and made it eventually to work. She took her camera with her and as per the upload for the 12th one of the many images captured from her moving train. However she ...

13th January

colmarHi A quiet afternoon at my work, but poor Mari heading from Ashford to London her train caught in the heavy snow that fell this morning she got no further than High Brooms near Tonbridge and then back to Ashford, the silver lining she got to finish early despite being stuck for nigh on an hour. ...

Bob the builder

PeteI decided this year I will try to do as many new things as I can. I've made a list of places in the UK that I haven't been as part of that resolution and I will also be on the look out for new activities. My first challenge, to break me in gradually, was something I've never done with snow be...

9th January

colmarHi Following on from yesterday's blog, Mari did arrive home and three and a bit hours later than she should have. Of course angry passengers "blame" the Company involved and am sure at times what TOC it is has no valid reason for some of the decisions and breakdowns, but when faced with...

8th January

colmarHi Was out and about on Southeastern Railway this afternoon, Mari was working and I thought maybe grab a few different style shots, and sure enough I did, some immediately binned some ok and a few grand ones that will be in the fullness of time uploaded to either EPZ or my own website. Now I know...
