Another day when a photo opportunity didn't materlise at work. So Again i started to think about things laying about the house.
A couple of things sprang to mind, one of them will probably be my PF upload tomorrow. The other is this, which might well appear in my PF at some point.
This original Zippo lighter, which is boxed with original guarantee, was bought by my Uncle when he was first posted to a Ship, after he joined the navy, for his father, my grandad and namesake.
The Ship, of course, was HMS Bulwark a 22,000 tonne Centaur-class light fleet aircraft carrier. Ordered in 1943 and launched 5 years later in 1948, she was finally decommissioned in 1981.

I can remember going on board HMS Cardiff, which was my Uncles ship at the time, when i was a kid and seeing HMS Bulwark in dock, stripped ready for scrapping, it was huge. It must have been after 1982 as my Uncle hadn't long returned from the Falklands.
