Underway.

Well the new development, down the road is now underway, the old stadium is being demolished to make way for a new retail/leisure park.

I took my first shot of this about three weeks ago, i think (See 131).




So now a few weeks on, some of the small buildings on site have gone, so has most of the boundary and pitch, and just this week the asbestos sheeting from the stand.

Took this through the temporary fence, put up by the developers, which happens to be opposite the local Police station, so was unsurprised when a member of the police came over to enquire about what i was doing. Had a nice friendly chat with him and once satisfied i wasn't planning to nick the machinery, he went about his business.

I've also discovered this evening the Stadium was built in 1933-34 by 55 Field Company Royal Engineers. The original foundation stone had been saved and put near the fence.
