Beautiful, the centres really glow and the colours are gorgeous.

Hello, Bill, and welcome to EPZ. This is a delightful image with which to start your portfolio. It is sharp, all in focus, colourful, with a natural background, well composed with good exposure and light. That light is evenly distributed so that there aren't any areas of the roses in shadow. The configuration of the petals makes them interesting, and the centres literally glow with gold. I felt your image was a bit dark and could do with brightening up, but without rendering the light petals too white. Also, you say they are pink roses, but the pink could be accentuated even more. There is a slight blue cast on the petals, too. In my modification, I lightened the image, took the saturation down (just to get the oranges more subtle), adjusted levels and used colour balance>warmer to remove the blue and at the same time make the pink more prominent. I also cloned out the bright orange leaf from the bottom left. My second mod has noise removal applied, which softens the flowers a little, but I did find quite a bit of noise/grain in there. I was quite gentle with it, though. My third mod has a crop to the left, and I also cleaned the background on the left, which I felt gave a nice effect, and there were only a few bits of foliage left there anyway, so I got rid of them. An alternative would be to eliminate all of the background, or you could have used a cloth or board behind the roses to achieve this in-camera.
