What an amazing structure. At first glance I thought it was a plaster moulding.

A Good shot. I not want to get to close. I feel your crop is a little tight. You could have done a variant with the picture full To give more effect.

Interesting images. Would leave the text off I think in this case. 1 and 2 are good general record images and 3 a fair close up. I've dealt with a few wasps nests and they can be scary. Get too close and they will attack - especially in confined spaces if they feel threatened.

I use a chemical suite that we used to use on coke ovens, full face mask and heavy rubber gloves - don't ever touch a wasp nest without full protection.

Interesting, Ian.

I remember a few years back taking a shot of paper wasps coming in and out of a really beautiful structure they had built near my house. I couldnt get a decent shot and after many attempts I had the great idea (great at the moment) of using a ring flash on a macro lens, - get depth of field, and stop action with the flash.

What I soon learned was, that though the wasps had no problem with me taking shots up until this, - using the flash was NOT allowed, and I was stung repeatedly until I retreated far away.

I like the shot, and understand the risks!
