  • Thwarting Squirrels!!!

Great I've made you both laugh! job done. I did buy a humane squirrel trap last year when the pesky blighters ate all our strawberries, despite netting. Worked instantly! Unfortunately I then read that it is illegal to release them alive... so we put up with them. 'no squirrels were harmed in the taking of these photos'

Perfect sun highlights on the snow, giving a very expansive feel to the shot. Super place to walk!

Pablo, many thanks for your comment and award! I've posted a colour mod. The river was very muddy brown and the sky a bit dull... but I've pushed it just a bit.

She'd be a great candidate on 'Only Connect' ! Great mood with the subdued light on the face.

Hi Brian, unfortunately the river was so high it was closed to boats! See the modification photo.

Thank you Ron for your most valued award! It was peaceful during the day, but I have never seen such rain and thunder the night before!

Thank you ee for your thoughts and modifications. It is always good to see how others might see your images! I should add the raw image, so you can see that I have already considerably brightened the scene. So I think the final result might depend on the starting point ! You have brought out an amazing level of colour and contrast, which makes the image slightly too surreal for me. I'd like to see what you would make of the raw file!

  • Thanks Sylvya for your comments and award! Think of walking up to Alcock Tarn, looking over to Helm Cragg then back to Grasmere for some warm Gingerbread. Breate in and you can almost smell it. Just like with your super flower shots! Andy
  • Ron, thanks for your comment yesterday, most appreciated. I really enjoyed looking at your portfolio, great colour and mono, lots of variety, all great quality. I like your comments about printing. To me the print is the end goal. I'm very much missing being able to share and get comments on prints during the lockdown! It hurts to reduce a 30Mpixel file down to screen resolution, but I'm always surprised how good and sharp images can look on screen. I just miss the immersion of a large print!

  • Janet - thank you for taking time to help with my wasps! I'm really impressed with your portfolio, the fungi are very etherial. Great observation. I can't count the number of times I smell stinkhorns but can't find them. Beautiful still life renderings with excellent lighting and tonality. Thankyou.
