    Hi everyone,

Thank you all for your critique, all advice has been taken onboard and will be put into practice moving forward.

Just to answer a few of your questions, this shot was taken back in 2013 on the way back to out hotel, I do use a tripod for all of my shots but on this occasion as I just jumped out of the car and wanted to beat all the people to the stones I left the tripod back in the car so this was a hand held shot in what was a very wet and dull day, on why I used f4 I can only assume I didn't think to change my setting from an earlier shot. I usually shot between f8 & f14 unless I use an ND filter.

The straight out of the camera shot was extremely dull and showed very little punch when drawing out the data in Lightroom so I used an HDR technique to give the shot some punch without looking like an over processed hot and not look like all the other generic shots that I have taken at Castlerigg.

What I will do is revisit the original and take on board your comments and repost,

Thank you all for your advice and comments it is very much appreciated.

Thank you all for your comments and for the two mods,

I also took a number of shots with the jetty right in the center of the shot as I would do on most occasions but I just wanted to try something a little different this time around.

I totally agree with all of your critique as I thought to myself that your eye was drawn to far to the left of the image. I will definitely take another look at the original image look to make two cropped version.

Many thanks, it is much appreciated.

  • Fire sky

Thank you both for all your helpful comments, the forefront of the shot was totally underexposed which created a few difficulties with the background even using a mask.

I wish I could answer your question but the shot was taken on the fly over three years ago, I literally turned round and caught this very fire orange sky. The sky is straight out of the camera, I'm not one for adding tones of vibrancy or clarity to my shots but I am also not using a monitor to develop my shots. I do much prefer he edited versions submitted.

Thank you both once again for your critique, I have taken it all on board,
