Hi Ade

I know this is a cheat's way of doing this, but just wanted to say that I've had another look in your PF to see what I've missed over the past few months whilst I've been away, and there are far too many great images to click. Please accept this as an overall click - apply any one of the following comments as appropriate and whichever you fancy: great composition / clarity / colour / dof; well composed / taken / seen; keep 'em coming etc etc. ; )
You have a stunning P/F - look forward to seeing more of your work.

Hi Ade,

thanks for taking the time to look at my images. Your work acts as inspiration for me so I value your opinion. I think at the moment I dont see the waterfalls etc as safe ground. I am still learning. I think if I were to do portraits the limits of my camera may become more apparent than the forgiving landscapes that I take. But if I upload a portrait you'll be the first to know Smile

take care mate

Wow, yeah i can spot the difference. Such an inspirational improvement. It is so good to see such a great history of a photographers development. Normally you just see the best shots and struggle to fathom how a person gets there; whether its natural born talent or die hard dedication.

Keep the uploads coming

Thank you so much for your help on "Looking". I've spotted some of your posts before, but have only just really had a proper look in your PF. Needless to say I'll be visiting on a more regular basis from now on!

I also read with interest your comments two above, and although I try not to, I know I sometimes am guilty of what you describe. Lately I've tried to click only if I have nothing else to add, and will try to be more selective. "Looking and thinking = learning" - great advice. In fact a very common-sense post altogether.

Thanks again and regards

Hi Adrian,
Congratulations on Photo of the week, one of the best in that series of mug shots.
Hope you had a great time and here's to 2007. Your porfolio has plenty of variety and creativity. Plenty for us to get our teeth into, sometimes say what we think.
All the best for the future, you never know if we can change our world through the visual art. Cheers mate Ron.

Cheers everyone.

On New years Eve 2006 I celebrate 3 completed years of DSLR ownership Smile

Been a long old learning experience, mostly from books then it was all polished up hugely by using this site.

Without it, I'd be 3 years off the shots I'm producing now - so my advice is to:-

keep an eye on the forums - all sorts of knowledge gems in there

ask questions - most togs are happy to answer

don't waste your time writing pointless comments on peoples shots. e.g. "Great colours and DOF". No one benefits from this.

do spend time looking at shots and making meaningful comments - they don't have to be technical, but show that you've looked at the shot and thought about it. Looking and thinking = learning.

Use the critique gallery - post your own shots into it and read other people's comments on other shots.

most of all - it's not to be taken too seriously, written text is often read out of context and people get upset. Don't fall into this trap cause only you loose out.

20 Dec 2006 12:38AM
Fantastic work, you now need to write a book. I for one would buy it.

Thanks for the comments on apples and beer, I've cropped it and made the apples a little brighter so I'll probably upload the new version tomorrow. I should have took a bit more time in the first place really but I was just messing before I went to the pub and wanted to get something on the site before I went. I think I'm just a bit to eager to get my pictures on that i forget to really look at them and make sure they're at least cropped properly.

Thanks again, Paul.
