Vicar Lane - Leeds

By ade_mcfade
Ah, good old vicar lane - location of my bus stop for those drunken trips back to Morley, in fact, there is a bus at the stop here - the one at the front of the market.

Vicar lane is the edge of the city centre in many respects, most of the shops stop here, you get big waste-land like car parks past here and people generally seem a little more "Shameless" like once you get around here.

Strangely enough the left hand side of the road has lots of designer outlets, Hugo Boss and FCUK are on here opposite the old Weigh Shop !

Apparently, the market;s the largest covered one in Europe too.

A little further up and across the road is China Town, unimpressivly small compared to Manchester and Newcastle, but there's a HUGE sex shop there if you're after owt kinky Smile

3 shot HDR with Dav watching on and Rich at home eating his tea before we went for a curry... Smile

I walked past this place but never went in - nice looking building - captured very well.

I did get out btw, I went down to the armouries - it did stop raining and the light wasn't too bad. There's some very trendy looking bars/restaurants down there as well.

You should have enough images for a Rough Guide to Leeds Adrian. Fantastic series and very informative. Ron.

Just wondering, Ade: Since you do a lot of cityscape, have you ever been stopped and searched, or mugged, or questioned? And how do you handle them?
*Maybe you can share your experience in the forum Smile

Excellent pic Ade. I didn't think it would be quite as good when you actually took it, but glad to be proved wrong.
Your eye for good shot is astonishing. Nice blue to the sky too. I like the crop too.

thanks everyone - nice to get an HC, but to get Luis's "World Class" award is something else! Cheers bud Smile

This looked horrible in the foreground - really amber and red from the street lights... the reds had to go, well except for the traffic lights of course Smile

Cheers for babysitting the photo Maddie - if it's not in the way, it'll wait till may and the NW weekender, or if Keith's in Donny, I could head down there some time.
Congrats on the HC Ade well deserved. The difference you have managed from the original is staggering, beautifully detailed image, and accomplished from a bus stop, quiet night for the buses I hope.

All the very best

I got beeped about 4 times for standing in the road Dougie - nothing new there Smile

I learned that the image you get from Photomatix is often just a step towards the final image, rather than a the file you work on. it becomes a layer in amongst many ohters...

keep shooting single RAWs is my advice, far less hassle!

HDR - selective sharpening - selective colour saturation changes - skewing and transforming - dodge and burn, a bit of each of those Dazz

Landscapes are a lot less hassle Smile

they are, but when you get a final result like this, it makes it all worth while mate.
