Walk The Line

By ade_mcfade
I try just about anything and everything with my camera, to varying degrees of success, but I keep coming back to this type of strong graphic image with very few elements. Something about the vanishing point effect that you can get with these lines that I really like.

this one's from a 2 hour shoot I did on Saddleworth Moor yesterday - just pulled over and improvised in the dull light - photos of fences, a style, fallen and standing bollards, but this one just stood out.

Well it did to me anyway Smile

Yes I really like this. I like the strong contrast and there's a great feeling of desolation.

A friend of mine was awarded with his FRPS with a striking panel of images very similar to this, (soot and white wash shots) we used to affectionately call them. A good few years ago, he died suddenly at a fairly young age and his wife later gave me a print almost identical to this one called Moorland road and taken from ground zero level onto the white line. it hands proudly in my study.

I like the strength and texture of this - there is something very evocative in this treatment.

I was on the M62 yesterday over Saddleworth. The temperature at the bottom was 4C and by the time had climbed to Saddleworth it had dropped to 1C. I bet you were freezing!! Good shot by the way.

Cheers folks - nice to be likened to an FRPS Phil Wink

I didn't know just how cold it was going to be so just had a light top, tee shirt and parker on! Had to pull my Buff over my head to stop me ears falling off - those things are excellent you know, we should all have them. I was out for a good hour longer than I'd normally have lasted.

Really great image, I like the low point of view and the strong white line leading into the image, simple but very effective

A good strong image.

Could be made even stronger with a solitary human figure walking the road.

Minimalistic and powerful image Ade, the low POV really makes this shot.

I like this shot...
It has very nice textures and a lead in to the shot with the white line...
The mono has work very well and you have great tones running through out this photo.. The clouds do add to this shot given it a moody feel...
The angle you have taken it at also adds to this shot with a feeling of being safe on or near an edgeof this hill...
It also has a very nice DOF....
Great work well done...
