Postcard from Edinburgh

By Adrian_Reynolds
Some walkabout scenes from a recent trip to Edinburgh, no's 3,4,5 are scenes within the first image.

No1 is from the top of the Scott monument 200ft up I was limited in what I could get in with so many people there and so little space.

No2 A street view

No3 The castle from Princes street gardens

No4 Two young lovers having a coffee

No5 Some of the architecture seen from the gardens

2&4 have been tonemapped for detail.

V1 for me Adrian.
It is a fine view of the city, which we skirted on our way back from Inverness, last OctoberSmile

A superb set, Adrian. Like them all. You have really captured the essence of the Capital so well. If push comes to shove, and it needs to be a major one, V1 with that tiny red bus just appearing from behind the trees and a wonderful panorama gets my vote!

That view from the top of the Scott's Monument takes some beating, Adrian, but the closer view of the Castle comes a close second. I do like the B and W view looking up the High Street.....seldom have a seen this street s free of clutter and folk. Looks like you had some fairly fine weather for your trip down to the central belt.

A fine set that sums up much of the best of Edinburgh. Not that I've been up the Scott Monument - we tend to tackle Calton Hill instead! The view in V5 can be made to look 'chocolate-boxy' (I did so on Kodachrome years ago) which you have managed to avoid; even as a chocolate box it is magnificent.
