On rocky ground

By geoffrey baker
Another one from Saturday's landscape shoot.
This was taken between some long showers when the light was stunning.

This was taken using a tripod because it was quite low to the ground and there was less chance of the strong wind shaking it or blowing it over.

Another 5 shot blend, in my opinion grad filters would have ruined this shot where the tree extends into the sky area, I've done that before and the tree and the tops of the hills also get darkened, losing the detail and colours in the branches, plus filters can cause flare etc.

HDR blending is the way to go.

Your HDR processing is excellent Geoff, no way you can tell unless you told us, this is how HDR should be used, combined with the composition it is a quality capture.

A wonderful remote rural landscape, excellent light, composition and feeling of wide open space and solitude
