ULTIMA NECAT

By keithh
The thing I love about Still Lifes is spending time getting the lighting just how I want it - sometimes it pays off and sometimes it doesn't and sometimes it just gives you another idea for another day. On this one it took forever to lose the green flare given off by the candle.

A very well thought out Still Life, one which has been captured and worked through very well.

Thanks Guys.

This was a composition that came at the end of about an hour of tutting, swearing and head shaking.

Very nicely set up. Many interesting curios Keith.
A lovely arrangement.

By the looks of the skull, you've lost weight since last we met. Grin

I looked at this last night and thought "I should really like this" but for some reason it didn't quite work for me. Something to do with the bottles, I really want to bring one forward a bit.

When I opened it again this morning I can see why, it looks like 2 rows of items, bringing one forward would break that and give a nice crossed composition. I wonder if that was the consternation you had when setting it up?

I know I'm been awkward (again).

Oh love (if that's the right word) the message running through this btw - all items linked with the ultimate outcome - I think ...

Only one I'm not sure on the meaning is the butterfly, is that the soul /personality of the person? and shouldn't the flame be extinguished - or is that the next in the series?

P.S. Just noticed something by accident (how it was on iPad after finishing scrolling) if you crop out the candle completely it's a much stronger composition - but that I guess losses a key element of the back story.. Or does it?

The Butterfly is there as a very transient form of life or one that perceived as being so, and in this case it is sat on some rotting fruit but the candle replaces the clock as a 'timed' element....Ultima Necat - the last kills, as in the final hour.

These are just a very small part of a much larger collection that will all loosely follow a theme.

Thanks guys
