Approaching Squall

By AdrianTurner
Took a trip to the Gower yesterday evening as late in the afternoon the cloud was breaking up and thinning out, thought it would be ideal for a sunset at Caswell.

I arrive and set out across the beach thinking cloud is a bit on the dense side, but hopefully it will continue to break up a little more. On reaching the rocks at Whiteshell point, I turned and yup, you guessed it, a solid grey wall of cloud coming over the horizon and the sun about to disappear behind it.

Decided to stay in hope but nothing doing, managed to grab a few poor shots, this was the last and best of them. Then just to make sure that I had a miserable time, I got a soaking from that squall which seemed to follow me all the way back to the car.

13secs @ f/22 plus Cokin X121S ND Grad.

The light and the long exposure give the shot a wonderful feel of tranquility.

Really like the contrast between dark sky and foreground - think you've made the best of the conditions! really nice effect on the sea with shutter speed too.

Actually like the frame, but nto too keen on the text.

Cheers, Nik

Lovely shot with fascinating light. For me though, the text is much too bold and is a serious distraction from the image. Still, a great photo.

This is a beauty, Adrian, the title size and font notwithstanding! Excellent clarity and exposure throughout.

Belting shot... I know the wet, cold Gower feeling only too well from my trip there back in January...

Don't know what you are complaining about Adrian, well worth it IMVHO (not saying anything about the text!)
