Candid Canola

By Alan_Coles
I can honestly say I have not taken that many images that have wowed me so much as the image above. Simple it might be but I just loved the way the separation from the background makes the flower stand out but yet the landscape is there for all to see. I was out with both my cameras and had the 5D and 17-40L on the tripod whilst I "messed about" with the 50D and the 55-250 IS's this 2nd combination that has nailed this shot.
I include the shooting details as I was quite surprised that F10 could give this effect. When people say its straight out of the camera most people nod and say ok whilst think, oh ye...I have tweaked the levels and applied some sharpening but that is about it and if it prints off like this I will be very happy....

Totally agree! I absolutely love the way the flower stalk in the foreground is sharp and clear against the muted background. Excellent work, Patti

nice light on your fg rape, and do agree that the bg works by being there but OOF. i would be tempted to tidy the fg stragglers before printing.lesley

I can fully understand your pleasure at this result Alan. I too would be delighted if it were mine. I have only one comment---- if you can do this well with a Canon think what you could do with a Nikon ( just for a laugh my friend )!!!
