Welcome Back !!

By Alan_Coles
This last week has seen the return of a little bird to my garden, the siskin. Last spotted in July when my patio was ripped up they disappeared shortly after and I have not seen them since...but they are back ! Have not had chance to get some shots of them yet so this is one of the youngsters as they bred locally, something that was suspected but until these images there was no evidence. This was actaully taken hand held in the garden on July 10th whilst 2 workmen stood close by - I was about 6ft away! Taken with my 300m f4 which was swapped a little while later for a 400m f5.6 - a shot I would not have been able to take with the new lens as it does not focus close!

Considering this is a hand held shot, I think you have captured the bird remarkably well and managed to obtain excellent detail. Like the b/g colour very much too - lets the subject stand out so well.
