Drastic Solution?

By AlanBW
This shot appealed to my rather warped sense of humour, but it is by no means a dynamic thumbnail so it will probably sink without trace. Nonetheless, I like it and I wanted to include it in my portfolio.

The image was taken over the recent Bank Holiday weekend in our nearest large town, which on the day was bustling with shoppers. As soon as I saw the banner headline I thought there might be some potential for a shot, but I assure you that absolutely nothing was ‘staged’. I hovered nearby for quite some time, hoping for someone or something to pass close to the sign - anything that might ‘complete the picture’. I noticed the two lovely ladies in the distance, but they were having a chat with someone and while their inclusion in the shot would have been ideal, I did not think that I would be that lucky. After a few minutes they started to move towards me and I couldn’t believe my good fortune when these totally innocent passers-by walked so close to the sign – and thereby completed the picture. They were enjoying an animated conversation, quite possibly about the child in the buggy. Their expressions were priceless and I would love to have uploaded the image ‘untouched’, but I have introduced some soft focus in order to protect their anonymity.

It's very well done. Black and white works very well here and the girls out of focus as well. I am never patient enough to take such shots. The advert is really ridiculus.
