Face Of An Angel

I hope that you have all fared well during the awful weather we have had to endure in the UK during recent days. Compared to many others, our problem is minor, but on Friday the extremely heavy rain began to leak through our roof and into the loft. One bedroom ceiling has been affected quite badly and I am not sure if it can be dried out, sealed and redecorated, or if it will need to be replaced. The roof is being inspected and hopefully repaired later today. With all the kerfuffle over the roof during the past few days, there has been little chance to look at EPZ, so I'm going to try to catch on all the galleries over the next few days. If it is only click and run, I hope you will understand.

Update 25/07: The problem was a cracked tile and with the volume of rain last Friday it poured into the roof space. Temporary fix done, but the major work still has to come with the replacement of some felt and batons on the roof. The bedroom ceiling needs to dry out completely before the full extent of the damage can be assessed. Apart from the usual excess, we are covered by insurance. Compared to many people in the UK we got away lightly, but it is still a nuisance.



The above image was taken last December in Bangkok, not far from the Chitlom skytrain station. Outside a large department store there are numerous seats where the public sit while waiting for friends and relatives. This beautiful little girl was flanked by Mum and Grandma and it was clear that both of them doted on her. She sat patiently, engaging Mum and Grandma in animated conversation; her smile and sparkling eyes were captivating. I was sat on some steps about 20 yards away, trying to capture a shot, but with so many people passing to and fro it was not easy. Eventually I managed to squeeze off a shot as the delightful little girl sipped from her water bottle. I was hoping for an opportunity to capture her beautiful smile, but just after I had taken my shot Dad arrived and they all trooped off together, the little girl clutching Dad’s hand.



This will be my last upload for a while because at the end of the week Tricia and I are going on a short holiday, when we will be touring around Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. It will be our first visit to this part of Europe, so we are really looking forward to it. I hope to return with some interesting shots - weather permitting of course!

A lovely candid Alan, I hope all goes well with the roof repair. We had more rain fall on Friday than we usually get for the entire month of July! I was ok, but several houses in my area were flooded and a few people had to be rescued.

Sorry to hear of your problems Alan.We have been lucky enough to avoid all that flooding.
Had a weeks hol in Devon last week - sunny and bright.

We haven't had much rain on the west coast of Canada thank goodness as my lilies have just started to bloom and I wouldn't like to see them ruined!! Hope you and Tricia have a great new holiday and looking forward to the pics!
