Father And Son

Outside a large and busy shopping mall in Bangkok, while waiting for Tricia to complete her browsing and buying, I sat people watching. It was a fascinating place to observe life, as there was a series of bus stops nearby and also a number of benches, so there was plenty to see. A lot of people were going by, on their way to or from the nearby shops, so this proved to be a fascinating interlude. Many were buying New Year gifts, for the day was the 29th of December 2006.

While watching the activity and the characters outside, I noticed the doting dad and his charming little son pictured above. Doubtless waiting for mum, they had positioned themselves to be able to see one of several water features just outside the shopping mall. The little boy was thrilled when the water shot into the air and then disappeared, only to emerge again a few seconds later. His expressions ranged from glee to fascination, while dad looked on proudly. I moved to an advantageous point on one of the benches and managed to catch the little boy as he squealed in delight, with his dad looking down at him and smiling tenderly. It was a magical moment - this man's love for his son could not have been better illustrated.

A marvellous opportunist shot and story from the master of the candid camera. Love the expression of joy you've captured on the little boy's face and the way you've shown the close bond between father and son. The conversion to black and white has worked a treat too

Wonderfully captured here Alan! I remember when my daughter was still an infant, if I went visiting with her I'd sit her on a table underneath a ceiling fan. She could sit in her carrier for a solid hour watching that fan go round-and-round.

Children have a marvelous ability to see the magical in the everyday!

Ohhh...bee-yoo-ti-ful father and son pic, Alan. I LOVE watching happy kids and their parents and this is...wow...this just warms the cockles big time.

As for the image itself, the tones are stunning and I echo bricurtis - this should get an HC.
