It has been a very busy time for me and of late I have not been able to visit as many portfolios as I would like. My apologies for this - there is a lot of catching up in store for me and although still very busy, hopefully I will be able to do so in the coming days. It is going to mean some clicking and running though.
And so on to the final destination of our brief but exciting European sojourn, Prague, the beautiful and atmospheric capital city of the Czech Republic. Prior to our departure, I had been in contact with EPZ stalwart George Rusky, who lives in Prague. Despite it being a very hectic work day for him, George very kindly arranged to meet us at an agreed time outside the magnificent church of Our Lady Before Tyn in the Old Town Square. We were able to spend a very pleasant hour in George’s company; he’s a wonderful guy and meeting up with him was one of the highlights of our visit to his spectacular home city. Many thanks, George! If any EPZ members are planning a visit to Prague, I recommend that you get in touch with George and arrange to meet him - he will be delighted I'm sure.
This was not our first trip to Prague and hopefully it will not be our last, therefore orientation around the main sights was not a problem for us on this occasion – it's not that we can't take a wrong turning, but we did all our getting lost on the previous visit! However, orientation appeared to be somewhat problematical for the poor couple pictured above. Tricia and I were browsing around a collection of interesting market stalls quite close to Wenceslas Square when I observed them. I was struck immediately by their stances and expressions; his demeanour was one of apparent bewilderment and hers, with over-the-shoulder glance and the chew on the arm of her spectacles, had all the hallmarks of exasperation tinged with a little anxiety. As often happens with this type of street scene, there was only a one-shot opportunity. Without the couple realising, I captured my shot, checked to see how it had turned out and had every intention of going over to offer my assistance, only to see them moving away and heading in the direction of the Old Town Square. Whatever they were trying to find, I hope they succeeded.
