Kilve Abstract 1

By alansdottir
Hello, I'm back from our break in the south-west. Looks like I've missed lots and I'll be catching up with your uploads over the next few days or so (I hope!).

Whilst down in Somerset, we met up with fellow EPZers Andy (http://www.ephotozine.com/u50562) and his daughter Bee (http://www.ephotozine.com/u73511) and spent a few hours happily taking shots of the amazing cobbles and pebbles and rock formations on show at Kilve beach. The rocks here are limestones, mudstones and shales, laid down millions of years ago during the upper Triassic and lower Jurassic periods. The rocks are known locally as blue Lias beds and yield many fossil specimens, mostly brachiopods (devil's toenails), crinoids and ammonites. However, it was the veining in the metamorphosed strata that caught my eye on this occasion...

Thanks for looking - your comments are appreciated, as always Smile

Nice abstract! I feel it could do with being a little lighter and, for some reason, being rotated 90 anticlockwise - or perhaps that's just my preference for vertical comps showing through.... Wink

Another great shot. I'm with Daisymaye - my initial thought was of a Goggle Earth-type image!
Have been to Kilve. It's a lovely spot and you've given more info about it than I ever knew! And a terrific image.
Except that I think it was the setting for part of that Robin Hood theme video that whatsisname did a few years ago.

Bryan Adams - Everything I do, I do it for you You are absolutely right, Alan - it was filmed very near where this was taken, and at Holford Glen - just found that via Google!

Superb natural abstract Carol; I particularly like V1. Very observant of you to guess that it was a painted smiley behind my abstract!
