Death stops for gas in Boron

By Aldo Panzieri
Boron is a grim sinister oil town in the high desert 100 miles from Los Angeles. We had just scattered my father in laws ashes in the Sierra Nevada's Mountains and were driving south. A black, evil storm front followed us.

Even at 80 M.P.H. it kept up with us. In Boron, this car car stopped in front of us. There was a dark reddish light coming up from the floor of the car. The drivers face was...well, you wouldn't believe me if I told you.

There's a real 50s feel to the image - and I love your write-up.
