...to a facebook community page.
It was taken locally obviously, in fact less than 1 mile from my house, in my youth we would take our bikes there, 3 of us had Kawasaki KMX 125's, so this place was great fun for the KMX'x, though sadly this is where my kmx died after a so called friend crashed into me and bent the thing sideways, i never forgave him for that!
I now take the dog there, first Poppy, now Twinkle, and its not changed much, the trees are taller, there are more brambles there now, and the eastern europeans like to chop trees down for free firewood, as well as lighting fires there in clearings, leaving behind cheap empty beer cans and empty kielbasa wrappers, but it is still a beautiful place to visit, and so quiet despite the a47 being half a mile away.
Anyway, back to that image, shortly after posting that image i had so many locals asking me where that was taken, and when i told them it was in our village, no one could fathom where it was, not one person, and i could not believe it!
"...been here 37 years and never knew about that place..." and "...is it? i only live around the corner..." were some of the responses i got.
Ok, it is slightly off the beaten track, down a road now blocked off by an A road, so not many people now have a reason to go down that particular road anyway, but living here for 37 years and not knowing about it, or worse, living "round the corner", well, it beggars beliefe really!
The restraint i have shown on my replies to these comments on facebook is untold! I want to write in caps GET OUT THERE AND EXPLORE YOUR NEIGHBOURHOOD, PERHAPS THEN YOU WILL FIND THERE IS MORE CLOSE BY THAN YOU THINK THERE IS... but i dont, i just type lol and walk away...
No, actually thats not quite true, i didnt walk away, the next day i sarcastically posted this image to that same community page...
... and i may have given the impression that it was very local as well... blatantly not, this is a photograph of a photograph i took way back in 1995 at Beck Hole in North Yorkshire...
