Splash

By AlexRitchie
We had a challenge at our local camera club and the title was RED.
Had another go at dropping strawberries into water.
Can't quite get the flash & white balance right and get the background totally white but I like it anyway.

For the darker backdrop I guess it depends on how many flashes you have. If you have only got on camera flash, you might be better off making the backdrop black, but if you have a few strobes you could light the background with one strobe. Now, if that is what you have done it looks as though you might have the strobe and the backdrop too close together, so that dark bit at the top of the frame and the right top side aren't getting enough illumination because they are outside of the main flash area.

If that is the case, you might want to try having the strobe just under line of sight and angled up a little. If the b/drop is a iltte further away you will get light more evenly spread over it, but due to the inverse square law it will be illuminated somewhat less, so it will be nearer grey than white. Making that white would involve making the f/g flash output lower and opening the aperture up. I think I got that right...

Like the piccy too!
