Powerful image. I have sometime wondered if the United States might have been a different kind of country if way back We had followed Ben Franklin's wish and made the Turkey our national bird. Less of an aggressor?

They are majestic birds. We see them on the Eastern Bay when sailing on the Chesapeake. You can always spot them in the air...the white head. On a river, if you see one, you usually see two...nesting pairs. And, the disconcerting aspect is that they have a sweet chirp...not what I expect from a powerful hunter and raptor. And the Great Blue Heron, one of our most beautiful birds has this awful "qwaaaak" call.

how on earth did i miss this beauty ?? one of my favourite Eagles i was lucky enough to fly one at a falconry centre in suffolk a few year ago !! an incredible experience !!
