I took a look back through your work, even though this is a old post it caught my eye, I did a similar photograph to this after researching this guys work http://www.gavinhammond.com/photography.html. I Found it worked best in colour for me personally, as having colour in the puddle attracts the eye, especially if it's like an orange or red tone as its one of the first colours the eye see. Have a look at Gavin's work might give you some food for thought.

Macro adapter or Lens Nikon
Raynox makes very nice macro adapters. check them out. -
AEB mode on Nikon D2X
