Eventing

Two minutes before the heavens opened, my daughter coming to the last on the cross-country course, I like the look of pleasure and determination in her face and the alertness in the horse as well as the feeling of power.

For those of you not familiar with eventing, they are completing a two mile gallop over twenty odd fences (approx), the white on the horses legs is what is left of a coating of grease that helps the legs slide over a fence if they hit it.

Decided not to blur the BE sign to give a context to the image.

C & C welcomed

Alistair

Agree about the look on your daughters face & the alert expression of the horse, but for me the PS blurring doesn't work. I would have preferred to see it without. A shallow DOF would have given a more natural blur to the background.

You could of created the same effect with your camera.......

I think the blur thats been added makes the image look really fake, there's also some kind of halo around the bottom half of the horse.
Maybe adding slight blur that looks more natural like a proper shallow depth of field, but this looks too fake I think.
Just my opinion......

Great shot, but i'd have to agree. a more natural blur or using a wider aperture when you look the pic to get a shallow depth of field would have been better. But well done it's not easy getting good eventing pics
